It is up to you, to make sure that you use it. If the host has told you that they prefer to be contacted by email in the morning, they are not going to appreciate you calling them during dinner.

If you are unable to keep to the schedules that you have set for yourself, the host is going to be suspicious of your abilities to plan and manage an organized and fun party. The more organized you are, the more faith the host will have in your abilities.

After you have completed the direct sales coaching and training program you will eventually discover how to read personality types and be able to identify which hosts can be left alone, who need the occasional push, and which will balk if they think you are pushing to hard.
